This year special focus was given to a new training program for police officers. The program is known as "active shooter". The program concentrates on what Officers who respond to a shots being fired call should do. Waiting for a specialized SWAT team may not be an option if lives are being lost.
The program trains Officers how work as a team to go into a building to search out and neutralize a shooter. It teaches them how to move in a building, and what they should be looking, and listening for. The main focus is to stop the shooter, until that is done, more lives are in jeopardy.
Officer Rohan, and Det. Manocchio run through the tactical course. This training exercise works on officers transitioning from handgun, to shotgun. It also allows the officers to practice moving and shooting at this same time.
