Have you ever wondered how you would react in an emergency situation? How evidence is collected? What to do if you are stopped for speeding? The Franklin Police Department hopes to answer some of those questions that you may have regarding the police department and law enforcement. The intended result of the academy is to give our residents a better understanding of what we do and how we do it. We hope to build ongoing working relationships with attendees that extend through the coming years in our mutual fight against crime and disorder.
We believe that the more educated the public is about how the police department operates, the more trustworthy and less feared we become. The classes offered will cover our basic operations and will be instructed mostly by members of the Franklin Police Department. Classes are intended to give overviews of the area taught.
Classes will be held once a week on Monday nights from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM for ten weeks. Classes will be held at the Franklin Police Station, 911 Panther Way. The first class is Monday, April 3, 2006. Each attendee will also be given the opportunity to ride with a Franklin Police Officer during his or her tour of duty to experience first hand the duties and responsibilities of the officers. Ride alongs will last approximately 3-4 hours.
